Falkirk Council signals commitment to HELIX
A strong signal of commitment to the £46 million pound HELIX project was sent today (August 14) by Falkirk Council's Policy and Resources Committee with agreement in principle to £5.7 million of support.
If the partnership bid for £25 million to the Big Lottery Living Landmarks Programme by the Council, British Waterways and Central Scotland Countryside Trust succeeds, Falkirk Council will provide its £5.7 million share of the project over several years.
The partnership will hear in November if the Big Lottery bid is successful.
'We are confident the HELIX has everything it takes to succeed including a proven ability by the partners to deliver on big projects and strong support from our community,' said Councillor Linda Gow, Convener of Policy and Resources.
She went on 'We had a very positive visit from the Big Lottery Fund assessors in July and this funding commitment from Falkirk Council will indicate that, as the partner contributing the largest amount to the HELIX, we are fully committed to its successful delivery.'
