Rehabilitation Service

Rehabilitation Workers help people adjust to living with significant sight loss by:

  • Visiting individuals to discuss coping with tasks, such as making a hot drink, preparing and cooking meals, or doing the laundry.
  • Training individuals to find their way around the home, school or work place.
  • Training in the use of mobility aids, such as symbol canes and long canes.
  • Advice about applying for a guide dog.
  • Assessment for specialist equipment and aids.
  • Provision of advice on lighting, colour contrast and and minor adaptations.
  • Instruction in Braille, Moon and keyboard skills.
  • Information about national and local services for people with a visual impairment.

This service is funded by Falkirk Council and Stirling Council.
