What Type of Marriage Do You Want?

Wedding Flowers

There are two ways you can be married in Scotland, either a religious ceremony or a civil ceremony.

  • A religious marriage, which may take place anywhere, is carried out by a minister, clergyman, pastor, priest or other person entitled to do so under the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977.
  • A civil marriage, which may take place in a registration office or approved place, may be carried out only be a Registrar or Assistant Registrar. You can find out lists of approved places throughout Scotland from the General Register Office for Scotland.

Please contact the Ceremonies Co-ordinator| for any further information you require on planning your special day.
