What's On

Big in Falkirk

The regeneration plans for Stenhousemuir town centre have a major role to play in the success of the My Future’s in Falkirk| initiative which aims to transform the Falkirk area’s economy into a thriving, diverse modern economy that attracts businesses and visitors into the area and provides jobs for local people.

Work has started on the first of the phased construction of the new town centre. The multi-million pound plans for regenerating Stenhousemuir town include a new 40,000sq ft Asda together with 33,000sq ft of shop units, extensive car parking, a new library, improvements to Crownest Park, a football pitch with changing rooms.

The new Community Centre is expected to get underway in May, allowing construction of the new Medical Centre being developed for NHS Forth Valley in November this year.

The 6.48 hectare site includes:

  • A 40,000sq ft foodstore with 360 parking spaces
  • More than34,000 sq ft of retail space in 3 single story blocks
  • A new library with “wave” shaped roof overlooking Crownest Park
  • Landscaped civic spaces
  • A new access road off the B905
  • A new football pitch and changing rooms
  • A new Tryst Community Centre with dedicated car parking facilities
  • A new Medical Centre

The first phase of the regenerated Stenhousemuir town centre, is expected to be complete by late 2008, with the final phase, the replacement of King Street block due to be completed during 2009.

Public Realm Project

The next phase of the regeneration will be the commencement of the Public Realm Project which will see improvements to walkways and roads within the town centre. These works will see the closure of the Plough Hotel public car park from 11 March. Shoppers and visitors are requested to use the new town centre 200 space car park.

A public exhibition of the Public Realm proposals was held on Monday 17 March in The Plough Hotel.

The above plans will also be available for download from this page soon.
